Behaviour Assessment (First Session)

UNDERSTANDING YOUR DOG BEFORE WE START TRAINING

Every dog we work with is different.

Many of the dogs who come to Woofer Wagon have been described as reactive, high-energy, anxious, or simply “too much”.

Before beginning regular sessions, we start with a Behaviour Assessment to understand your dog's personality, energy levels, and behavioural challenges.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE SESSION?

During this first visit we take the time to observe your dog, discuss your concerns, and introduce them to the Woofer Wagon environment.

Depending on your dog’s comfort level, this may include a gradual introduction to the self-propelled slatmill as a structured outlet for movement and confidence building.

WHAT WE ASSESS?

During the assessment we look at:

• arousal, energy levels, temperament
• confidence and impulse control
• engagement with the handler
• behavioural patterns
• lifestyle
• diet, general health and condition
• welfare and realistic expectations
• prior learning history

OWNER GUIDANCE

This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and gain insight into your dog's behaviour. Many owners leave the first session with a completely new understanding of what their dog actually needs to feel calmer and more balanced.

OUTCOME

After the assessment we can recommend the most suitable next steps for your dog. This may include regular mill sessions, behavioural training, or a combination of both.

Because some dogs aren't meant to be easy.

Some dogs are just a little… extra.
